40 miler

Well, 42.5 to be exact, but whose counting? (other than my bike computer).
Today the team left from Redmond and did a 27 mile loop, with a 4 mile loop in the middle, done a few times for interval work.
I'm now basically the slowest on our team, so I was at the back of the group during our warmup, and passed someone who had a flat tire at around mile 2. Then passed another pair with a flat tire around mile 3. Luckily coach wade was at the back, so he helped them along and I kept going (I doubt I'd be too useful).
So I was biking alone, with one of my team mates in site ahead of me. But then I come to a turn, and see her go straight. Well, I'm pretty sure its Sylvia up ahead, and didn't want her to get lost all alone, so I figured I could catch her. But she is the same speed as me, so I biked really fast, and was catching up, but it was a slow process, and I kept worrying it wasn't her, and kept yelling as loud as I could. Finally I caught up (it felt like it took 10 minutes..) and luckily it was a team mate, and we found our way back to the course. We finally got to the meeting point, and found half of our team. Wade then catches up and lets us know he's already changed 6 tires that day! As he says this, Someone pulls in down the hill, stops, and realizes she has flat number 7 of the day... Oh and its raining.
We finally all reconvened, did a 4x4 mile loop (one mile rest, 3 miles hard), then started on our way home, which included "union hill". I for some reason was already feeling tired, even though I'd only done 30 miles... and this hill went on forever, and ever! It wasn't that steep, but it just never ended.
We finally made it home, having done only 42 miles, and my legs where quite tired. Which seems like a bad sign given that the race is 55 miles, and only 2 months away. We did a quick one mile run to warm up the legs, and went home nice and tired.

I really need to get into better biking shape...some day :(.
